I am pleased to offer personal sessions, the foundation series,
duo mat sessions, semi-private mat practice and group workshops
                                                                 
 
Personal Sessions____________________________________
 
Personal sessions feature mat, allegro reformer and tower
to best strengthen and challenge core stability
while toning and strengthening the mobilizers of the arms and legs.
 
Individually designed, personal sessions*are best suited for those who must
fit their practice sessions into busy schedules or desire total privacy.
They are also recommended for those who are recovering from recent injury or surgery,
have chronic pain or are pregnant.  They are specifically designed for your needs and abilities
and provide the greatest amount of personal guidance in the work.
 
 
If you have never had Pilates before
please consider the foundation series *

Each session highlights a particular part of the body
and how it relates to both the repertoire and daily movement..
Longer sessions give you time to integrate each movement
This option is especially beneficial for those in chronic pain
or recovering from surgery or injury.

The studio is spacious, serene and private.
 
Only one client and one instructor
are in the studio during personal sessions.
 
 You don't need special pilates clothes. 
Just wear something comfortable
and bring a pair of socks
.
 
Whether on the mat, reformer or at the wall tower,
PJ  places great emphasis on alignment. 
The position we move in determines what muscles will be used,
how they will be formed and how efficient they will be.
 
Since you are always in alignment there is 
never strain in the body--
only increasing ability
as you become stronger,
longer and less compressed.
         
 As you are able to access more of your design you work deeper,from the inside out,
stabilizing and strengthening your core while you progressively challenge the musculature
necessary to comfortably sustain the body whether at rest or in action.
 
You work out in the same state you want to live in—
strong, relaxed, supple, balanced
 
Science has proven that less stress in the joints enables us to have
more efficient immune systems and to be calmer and more capable.
 
I have coined the term "organized relaxation"
 for this ultimate state of power, grace, ability and wellness.

We apply the patterns we have been practicing to many EVERYDAY activities,
with special focus on sitting, stairs, standing, walking and carrying.

PJ Mann graduated with distinction from the Teacher Certification program at Long Beach Dance Conditioning
With its emphasis on bio-mechanics and functional anatomy,
it is one of the most rigorous programs in the nation. 
 
As a member of the Pilates Method Alliance she is required to continually update her knowledge with workshops, classes and lectures by the foremost specialists in body work today.
 
Introduced to Pilates over 25 years ago when she danced on Broadway,
PJ specializes in rehabilitative body conditioning.  She has over 9000 hours experience teaching both private and group instruction. 
 
PJ  returned to Pilates after two major injuries. Now pain-free and restored
to full function, she is a believer in the profound power of this work.
